Eggon land witnessed a historic moment as His Royal Highness, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku (rtd.), was crowned and presented with the staff of office as the new Aren Eggon, marking the first coronation of an Aren in 41 years.
The epoch-making event has been described as a defining moment of reintegration, unity, and renewed progress for the Eggon nation.
The coronation and presentation of the staff of office were performed by Abdullahi Sule during a colourful ceremony held at Eggon Community Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon.
The installation marks the first ascension to the revered throne since the reign of the late Aren Eggon, Dr. Bala Abene Angbazo.
The event attracted Eggon sons and daughters from across the world, who gathered in large numbers to pay homage to their paramount traditional ruler.
After signing the official certificate of appointment, Governor Sule formally handed over the staff of office to the monarch, symbolising the state government’s recognition and endorsement of the throne.
Traditional institutions took centre stage as Eggon kingmakers paid homage to the newly installed monarch. They were followed by officials of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) and other traditional bodies in a remarkable display of unity, solidarity, and respect for the institution.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances, as various traditional dance groups entertained guests. Among them were the Anzalu dancers of Galle and Wakama, as well as the Achukun dance group of Iggah Burumburum, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Eggon people.

Other prominent Eggon sons, including Barr. Danladi Halilu Envuluanza and Prince Abdullahi Aliyu, also expressed joy over the coronation, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter for the people.

The grand ceremony brought together traditional rulers from within and outside Nasarawa State, including former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-Makura, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and other top government officials.
With the presentation of the staff of office, expectations are high that the reign of HRH Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku will foster greater unity, preserve Eggon cultural heritage, and accelerate development across Eggon land.
