Preparations are in top gear for the official flag-off of the much-anticipated Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road construction project, as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Kwanta Yakubu, inspected the proposed event venue ahead of the ceremony.

The inspection took place on Friday during a stopover at the project site located between Akwanga and Andaha, as the duo traveled to Jos to represent the Nasarawa State Government at an official engagement scheduled for Saturday.

During the visit, Jatau and Kwanta assessed the level of preparations and directed the contractor handling the grading of the venue to expand the field to ensure it can adequately accommodate the large crowd expected at the event next week.

The official flag-off ceremony is scheduled for next Monday and will be performed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Expected at the high-profile event are the governors of Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe states, alongside other senior government officials and key stakeholders from across the region.

The Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe road project is widely regarded as a strategic infrastructure development expected to significantly enhance interstate commerce, improve connectivity between the North-Central and North-East regions, and stimulate economic growth.

Residents and business operators along the corridor are optimistic that the road project will open up new economic opportunities, ease transportation challenges, and boost socio-economic activities across the benefiting states.
