Delta Health Commissioner Warns Public Against Fake Facebook, WhatsApp Job Scam

The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has warned members of the public to be wary of fraudsters impersonating him on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting job seekers with fake promises of employment in the Delta State Civil Service.
In a disclaimer issued on Wednesday, Onojaeme said the criminal syndicate had created fake social media accounts and was using the WhatsApp phone number 07055502867 to falsely present itself as him while demanding money from victims in exchange for purported job placements in the state civil service and other government agencies.
The commissioner categorically denied any connection with the phone number, stressing that it does not belong to him.
He also dismissed claims by the fraudsters that his official telephone line had been hacked, describing the allegation as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and lend credibility to the scam.
Recruitment Is Free, Commissioner Insists
Onojaeme reaffirmed that neither he nor the Delta State Ministry of Health requests or accepts money from anyone in exchange for employment or any government-related service.
According to him, recruitment into the Delta State Civil Service and the Ministry of Health follows established government procedures that are transparent, merit-based and completely free of financial inducement.
He urged job seekers and members of the public to disregard calls, messages or social media communications from individuals claiming to represent him or offering employment opportunities in return for payment.
The commissioner warned that anyone who transacts with such fraudsters does so at their own risk.
Residents Urged to Report Fraudsters
Onojaeme advised residents to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious messages, phone calls or recruitment-related scams to the nearest law enforcement agency or relevant security authorities for investigation.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Health is working closely with security agencies to identify, apprehend and prosecute those behind the fraudulent activities.
