Engr. Matthew Tonlagha Bags 2026 Award for Outstanding Humanitarian Service, August 19 in Abuja

The Vice Chairman of Tantita Security Service Limited, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, has been selected to receive the prestigious “Humanitarian to All in the Society Award 2026” during the 16th Public Lecture and Award Ceremony organised by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.

The event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, August 19, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, as part of activities commemorating Nigeria’s 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy.

Announcing the honour, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said the award recognises Engr. Tonlagha’s exceptional contributions to humanitarian service, peacebuilding, youth empowerment and community development across the Niger Delta and other parts of Nigeria.

According to him, Engr. Tonlagha has consistently demonstrated uncommon leadership by combining corporate responsibility with compassion and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“Engr. Matthew Tonlagha has distinguished himself as a leader who combines corporate responsibility with deep compassion for humanity. His humanitarian interventions in education, healthcare and welfare have brought relief to thousands and inspired hope in many communities,” Chief Femi stated.

As Vice Chairman of Tantita Security Service Limited in Warri, Delta State, Engr. Tonlagha has played a significant role in promoting security, peace and economic stability within the Niger Delta through strategic initiatives aimed at safeguarding critical national assets.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he has earned widespread recognition for his philanthropic activities, including awarding scholarships to students, supporting indigent learners, funding medical outreach programmes and providing relief materials to vulnerable families.

This year’s public lecture will focus on the theme: “Economic Reform, Democracy and Sustainable Development: The Nigerian Example.”

The programme will also feature the induction of eminent Nigerians into the Good Governance Hall of Fame in recognition of their contributions to national development.

According to Democracy Newsline Newspaper, the annual awards celebrate individuals whose leadership, integrity and humanitarian services have strengthened democracy, promoted peace and advanced sustainable development in the country.

Engr. Matthew Tonlagha is also expected to deliver a goodwill message during the ceremony before receiving a commemorative plaque and award citation in recognition of his outstanding humanitarian contributions.
