The leadership and members of the APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum have felicitated the Chief Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Chief (Dr.) Senator Ighoyota Amori, on his 74th birthday, describing him as an accomplished statesman, pragmatic political strategist, bridge-builder and repository of invaluable political experience.
In a goodwill message jointly signed by the National Secretary and State Director of Protocol to the Governor, Chief Sunday Onoriode, and the National Publicity Secretary and Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun (Dr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., the forum described Amori’s 74 years as a remarkable journey of service, sacrifice, political resilience and commitment to the advancement of the Urhobo nation, Delta State and Nigeria.
The forum noted that Amori’s political trajectory spans several decades and virtually every level of public service, from grassroots politics to prominent positions in state and national governance.
It recalled his early involvement in student leadership at the University of Benin and his subsequent service at the local government level before he rose to occupy influential positions in government and political organisations.
During the administration of former Delta State Governor James Onanefe Ibori, Amori served as Commissioner for Education, Political Adviser on political matters and Commissioner for Water Resources.
He later served as Senior Political Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to the forum, the responsibilities entrusted to Amori over the years equipped him with extensive experience in governance, political organisation, stakeholder engagement, grassroots mobilisation and conflict management.
The group said these qualities have helped sustain his relevance across successive political administrations.
“Chief Amori’s political journey is not defined merely by the offices he has occupied, but by the breadth of experience, relationships and institutional knowledge he has accumulated over the years. He has remained a major participant in the political development of Delta State and an influential voice in the affairs of the Urhobo nation,” the statement said.
Forum Praises Amori’s Support for Oborevwori
The APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum particularly commended Amori’s current role as Chief Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing his appointment in January 2025 as recognition of the value of experience and sound political judgment in governance.
The forum said Governor Oborevwori has continued to draw from Amori’s wealth of political experience and strategic understanding of public affairs.
It added that the elder statesman has brought his experience to bear on policy direction, stakeholder relations, engagement with citizens and the implementation of the administration’s MORE Agenda.
The forum also praised what it described as Amori’s “unwavering loyalty and steadfast support” for Governor Oborevwori’s political leadership.
According to the group, Amori’s stature and experience have contributed to political cohesion, mobilisation and strategic engagement within the state.
It further noted that his leadership of the Ethiope Federal Constituency political structure demonstrates his capacity to unite stakeholders, promote cohesion and mobilise the people around shared political objectives.
“For us in the APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum, Chief Amori’s birthday is more than the celebration of an individual. It is a celebration of a political institution, a mentor, an elder statesman and a father figure whose contribution to the political development of our people has spanned generations,” the statement added.
Amori’s Political Legacy Celebrated
The forum commended Amori’s service to the Urhobo nation of Delta Central, his contributions to Delta State and his commitment to national development.
It described his long public career as a testament to resilience, political sagacity and a deep understanding of leadership.
The group also acknowledged his ability to operate across different political eras and remain relevant despite changing political circumstances, saying such longevity in public life requires experience, adaptability, strong relationships and an enduring commitment to public service.
The forum prayed for God to grant Amori continued good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of purposeful service.
It expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would continue to be valuable to the people of Ethiope, Delta State and Nigeria.
“Chief Amori, at 74, we salute your courage, resilience, political sagacity and commitment to service. We celebrate not only the years behind you, but the wisdom they represent and the lives and institutions touched by your journey,” the forum said.
The group concluded by congratulating the former senator and elder statesman on his 74th birthday.
