As Community Hails Governor Ododo Over Counterpart Funding, Road Rehabilitation Efforts

A team of engineers from the World Bank has visited Ogugu in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State for an on-the-spot assessment of the Ogugu Bridge and Ofante Road.

The inspection focused on proposed road rehabilitation and measures to address erosion challenges affecting the area.

The development has generated optimism among residents of Ogugu, who expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Government for its efforts toward meeting the counterpart funding requirements associated with the World Bank intervention.

Mr. Joshua Agada aka Old School, PRO Ogugu Development Union (ODU) who spoke on behalf of ODU commended the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what it described as his support and commitment to the project.

According to him, the Governor has not left them behind:

“We express our profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support and commitment to paying the counterpart funding to the World Bank,” the community said.

It added that the people of Ogugu were grateful for the governor’s interventions and expressed hope that the long-standing infrastructure challenges would soon be addressed.

Chief Salifu, who represented the traditional institution, offered prayers for the safe arrival and departure of the World Bank team.

The community expressed optimism that the inspection would pave the way for concrete action towards rehabilitating the Ogugu Bridge and Ofante Road.

According to the community, the intervention, if implemented, would help address the persistent challenges associated with the Ubele Ogugu Bridge and Ofante Road, which residents said had affected movement and connectivity in the area over the years.

“With the intervention of the governor and by the grace of God, the age-long issue of Ubele Ogugu Bridge and Ofante Road will soon become history,” the community said.

The inspection is therefore being viewed by residents as an important step towards finding a lasting solution to the infrastructure challenges and improving transportation and economic activities in Ogugu and surrounding communities.

Abutu Samuel; and the representative of the Ejeh of Olamaboro Traditional Council, Chief Emmanuel Salifu, the Adokanya of Emonoja.
