…Urges Registered Voters to Support APC Candidates Across Five Electoral Positions

By Yahaya Idris

The Latimore Political Forum (LPF) has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling on registered voters in Kokori Ward 6 and Agbon communities to support the party’s candidates across the five elective positions.

The Convener of LPF, Dr Wilfred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., made the declaration on Saturday, November 7, 2026, during his inaugural address at the formal inauguration of the forum’s executive members in Kokori, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oghenesivbe identified President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, Hon. Mrs Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu and Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo as the APC candidates the forum intends to mobilise grassroots support for in the forthcoming elections.

He urged eligible voters to embrace the party’s 5/5 voting campaign, explaining that the forum would intensify grassroots engagement to promote awareness of the candidates’ programmes, political activities and governance records.

Commending President Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy, the LPF convener described the policy as a difficult but necessary economic measure aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy and redirecting public resources towards national development.

He acknowledged that the policy had brought economic challenges for Nigerians but expressed optimism that its anticipated benefits would become more evident with sustained implementation.

According to him, funds previously committed to the subsidy regime are now reflected in increased allocations to state and local governments, providing additional resources for infrastructure development and other public services.

Oghenesivbe maintained that the ongoing economic reforms were intended to lay the foundation for a stronger national economy and create opportunities for development across the country.

He also commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration for its interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare, hospital development, security, medicine supply and sports.

The LPF convener particularly highlighted projects executed in Kokori and other Agbon communities, as well as across Delta State’s three senatorial districts, describing them as evidence of the governor’s development priorities.

He said the forum was established on the conviction that meaningful political participation and development must begin at the grassroots.

According to him, LPF’s immediate operational focus would be Kokori, particularly Ward 6, under the political leadership of Rt. Hon. Sunny Emeyese, and the wider Agbon Kingdom, comprising Agbon One and Agbon Two, before expanding its activities across Ethiope Federal Constituency.

He explained that the organisation would adopt door-to-door engagement, community consultations, meetings with youth and women groups, political education and other lawful mobilisation strategies to promote democratic participation.

However, he cautioned members against political violence, intimidation, misinformation and personal attacks, stressing that political engagement must be guided by discipline, tolerance and mutual respect.

Addressing the newly inaugurated executives, Oghenesivbe urged them to regard their appointments as responsibilities to serve rather than privileges to enjoy.

He charged them to demonstrate commitment, transparency, accountability and loyalty to the founding objectives of the organisation, noting that LPF’s success would be measured by its organisational effectiveness and impact at the grassroots.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of LPF, Chief Akpobo Imoni, called on members and residents of Kokori Ward 6 and neighbouring communities to participate actively in the political mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Imoni also commended Oghenesivbe for his commitment to promoting the APC and the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda, acknowledging his efforts towards strengthening political organisation and grassroots mobilisation.

Other speakers, including the immediate past APC Chairman in Kokori Ward 6, Chief Felix Oniakuko; Ward Councillor, Hon. Oghenevwede Oghoghorie; Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Okakuro Sunday Umunade; community and political leader, Chief Sunday Okoro; and President of Kokori Women in Politics, Chief Mrs Florence Oki, also addressed the gathering.

They highlighted the governance programmes of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori and called on eligible voters across Kokori Ward 6, Agbon communities and Delta State to participate in the 2027 general elections.

The speakers equally commended Oghenesivbe for establishing LPF as a political support organisation for the APC.

Oghenesivbe further urged youths, women and other community stakeholders to take ownership of the forum, emphasising that its activities would continue beyond election periods through political education, community engagement and constructive advocacy.

He disclosed that LPF would establish functional ward and community contact structures, maintain accurate membership records and promote issue-based political conversations in line with the electoral framework established by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to peaceful elections, the rejection of political violence and respect for the constitutional rights of citizens to make their electoral choices freely.

The convener expressed appreciation to political leaders, community stakeholders, members of the planning committee, friends, associates and supporters who contributed to the establishment of the forum.

He also thanked the newly inaugurated executives for accepting the responsibility of serving the organisation.

Oghenesivbe expressed confidence that the inauguration would provide a platform for sustained grassroots political organisation across Kokori and Agbon Kingdom, with plans to extend the forum’s structures throughout Ethiope Federal Constituency.
