Abia PDP primaries: National Assembly hopeful, Sam Anya tasks party delegates on support to foster responsive representation

The 2023 House of Representatives aspirant from Abia State, Chief Sam Anya, has asked for support across the electoral wards in Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency ahead of the upcoming primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Chief Anya assured PDP delegates for the forthcoming primaries, and the entire people of the federal constituency, of effective and responsive representation if supported to emerge as party standard-bearers, and also elected as members of the green chamber of the National Assembly in the main general election in 2023.

The National Assembly hopeful gave the assurance when he met with the enlarged stakeholder’s forum of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abiriba chapter, in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

He met the party stakeholders as part of consultations to solicit support for his bid to pick the PDP ticket, as the flagbearer for the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency seat election in 2023.

Speaking during the enlarged stakeholders meeting, Chief Sam Anya, said that he has the reach to attract quality and meaningful projects to the federal constituency, and as well as, initiate programs and welfare schemes to guarantee empowerment and development of youths in the constituency when supported in the primaries, and 2023 elections.

He reiterated his promise to render quality leadership which will be shrouded in the attraction of basic infrastructure, to improve the standard of living of the people of Abiriba ancient community in Ohafia Local Government Area when emerged victorious in the upcoming primaries, as PDP flagbearer, and the main elections in 2023.

The Abia PDP aspirant further promised to give the people of Abiriba a pride of place when elected in the green chamber of the National Assembly, appealing to the delegates not to mortgage the future of the constituency but to vote for him to fly the flag of the party to foster the needed

Anya partly said, “It is time to take our constituency to a higher level and provide quality representation that will make life better for our youths, parents, and everyone”.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of the Peoples Democratic Party leaders, during the enlarged meeting in Umuahia, harped on the unity of the party especially now the 2023 general elections approach.

Mba Okoronkwo Ukariwo, the PDP leader of the Abiriba chapter, and Pro-chancellor of Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) charged the aspirants and their supporters to eschew bitterness and campaign of calumny against each other so that when a candidate emerges from the primary election there will still be room to come together and work for the victory of the party at the general election.

According to Ukariwo, “I will want everyone to caution their supporters against the campaign of calumny as this primary election is just an internal party process.

“The main challenge is out there waiting for us and whatever you say against each other is what they will use against us during the general election, so we must create a room that will enable us to come together after a candidate has emerged and won the election “.

On his part, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, described Chief Sam Anya as being eminently qualified for the plum position, insisting that it’s the turn of Abiriba extraction to produce the next representative for Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency being the only community that has not had a shot on the seat before now.

According to Kalu in his words, “the party is supreme and as loyal party members, we will await the decision of the party on where the ticket should go.

“We have confidence in the leadership of the party, from Governor Okezie Ikpeazi through the State Chairman, Rt Hon Asiforo Okere.

“While we hope and pray for the emergence of a candidate from Abiriba, if a decision is taken in favor of any of you we will surely work for the success of the person during the general elections because we know you are all eminently qualified”.
