After 48 years, Yewa Lokan, BY ABUBAKAR YUSUF.

Four decades down the line, the good people and the most hospitable, as well as exposed entity known as ‘Yewa Land’ has been politically emasculated, but desiring amicable resolution for fairness, equity and team work.

Though, we are not in the best of time for politics both at the national and state level after the 2023 general elections, but a Yoruba adage that says “Aso Tele, Ko ni da ija”, meaning in translation is “once a contending issue was discussed and agreed, it will no more generate crises.”

Except , politics is part and parcel of us , particularly for the current digital era of doing things with political activities not left behind.

The case of Ogun state , a glaring “misnomer” that existed close to five decades now and above five decades after the current dispensation, deserved urgent “political” redress.

Hence opinion moulders, critical stakeholders from all parts of the state that consisted of the three Senatorial districts, including the benefiting Ogun South, Ogun Central and the marginalized Ogun West have come together not in confrontation, but to chart a new acceptable and fair political arrangements, that will be beneficial to all , particularly the estranged Ogun West of Yewa Land.

The situation may be fortuitous at that point in time towards the current political dispensation, but going forward, it will be politically inexpedient, irrational and unacceptable not to tow the new order.

The previous or rather the existing arrangements may be the political understanding that existed between the Egbas, Ijebus and the Yewa people who are on the same page in terms of exposure, Education and experience in all areas, except the new order desire a little to the other area for a political balance.

The recent events were speakers both from Yewa Land and other parts of the state are clamouring for the next governor of Ogun state to emanate from the area, is not out of place and to balance the current political expectations and exigency, it is now expedient.

The positive development will be borne out of the need to balance the lopsided political arrangements, agreement and development that was almost becoming a norm , inimical to the unity, peace and development of the many decades Ogun state.

The recurring clamour by notable stakeholders, former and current political office holders and politicians of high repute with the recent one coming from the Senator representing Ogun West, Chairman , Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi was a pointer to doing the needful in the next dispensation.

All hands must be on deck to exhaust the all round developmental strides of Senator Ademola Olamilekan Adeola Yayi that is not restricted to Ogun West, but the entire Ogun state , a trend that is rare and vogue in the current dispensation.

Ogun state will be many times lucky , when the people’s desire , expectations to the ascension of the next governor of the state emerge from Yewa Land to the betterment of the state and the nation at large.
