Akoko Edo North: INEC Publication of Names Should Not Weight Us Down – Christabel Supporters.
Following the released of names of candidates published by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the forthcoming 2023 generation, there are mixed reactions from some quarters especially in the case of Akoko Edo North State Constituency.
Hon. Christabel Eremah Ekwu who contested in the just concluded People’s Democratic Party, PDP, primaries representing Akoko Edo North State constituency, through her Media Office, appealed to her supporters not to panic as the matter is before the court for redress.
The press statement reads in part:
It has come to the our notice that the recent release of the names published by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, is being greeted by our numerous followers with some measure of disappointment. We want to state unequivocally that this should not affect our relationship and unflagging support for our candidate, Hon. Christabel Eremah Ekwu, who was duly elected and monitored by INEC by PDP delegates as stipulated in the Electoral Act 2022. What INEC did was to obey a court order, it has nothing to do with the authenticity of her candidacy, which is not in doubt. For the purpose of clearing all doubts, the matter has been appealed in a competent court and justice will prevail.

This press release has become necessary because a lot of peddled news has been used to misled the unsuspecting public and our base supporters. The fact remains that Hon. Christabel Eremah Ekwu’s election was monitored by INEC, and any other person that is parading him or herself as the candidate of the Akoko-Edo North Constituency is embarking on an unfortunate journey of no return. The judgement of the Supreme Court did not nullify anything, it only mentioned its lack of jurisdiction on the matter of delegates.
No great stride comes easily, so we want to use this medium to appeal to the thousands of our supporters across Akoko-Edo North Constituency to continue to be steadfast, believe in our justice system and be sure justice will definitely prevail. We are sure, confident and persuaded that victory is ours. Justice delayed is not justice denied.

So let’s continue to galvanize our supporters across all the villages and towns to be prepared for the general election as we are going to be facing the easily surmountable APC. Let us therefore proceed with confidence and assurance.
