A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and now Federal Capital Territory Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has condemned in strong terms the killings in the Dei-Dei market, just as she called for the calm and peaceful coexistence among the diverse groups across the territory.
The Minister in a statement issued by Austine Elemue, S.A Media To FCT Minister of State, Recall that violence erupted in the Dei-Dei area of the FCT on Wednesday following a clash between commercial motorcycle riders and traders, which resulted to the death of five persons.
The minister while the law-abiding crisis tasked indigenes and residents alike to be law abiding and more tolerant of each other for a very productive and peaceful coexistence, stressing that peaceful coexistence was not just moral but everybody’s business.
She called on residents to insist the police with useful informations that would aid them for the overall peaceful coexistence of their various areas.
She reiterated that it is not peace that brings about unity, but rather, unity brings about pe, peaceful coexistence among people of divergent historical, ethnic, and religious affiliations.
“Please let us save our territory, let us save our peace us save our patrimony, let us save our right to live peacefully and coexist. It is better than silver and gold. I am appealing to our residents irrespective of tribe or religion to imbibe dialogue at all times in resolving differences. We cannot allow what is happening in other parts of the country to happen in the seat of government,” Aliyu stated.
While disclosing that security agents have been drafted to restore peace in the affected area, Aliyu assured that the Administration would do all within its powers to maintain peace across the territory
