Alleged Insubordination: Nasarawa Assembly Summons Suspended Council Boss

Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee investigating the alleged act of insubordination and abuse of office by the suspended Executive Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Council, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ottos has invited him to appeared before the committee on Wednesday, Aug.26,2020. by 12noon at the assembly complex.

The committee also invited the suspended Deputy Chairman, Karu Local Government council, Lawal Yakubu Karshi to appear before the committee for the same purpose.

Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe member representing Obi one and the Chairman of the Seven- Man investigative committee gave the summon during the first sitting of the committee in Lafia Monday.

Peter Akwe said that the summoning of the affected local government officials was to give them fair hearing over insubordination allegation level against them.

” The mandate of this committee is to ascertain the level of the involvement of the suspended Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government and the suspended Deputy Chairman, Karu Local Government at a court case of the former Secretary to the Government of the state (SSG), against Nasarawa State Government on August 8, 2020.

” To enable the affected council officials to defend the allegation leveled against them.

“,And to recommend appropriate sanctions, ” he said.

Peter Akwe assured of the committee’s readiness to ensuring that justice is done at the end of the day.

” We will give them fair hearing and justice will be done on the matter, ” the Chairman added.

The chairman appreciated members of the committee for their cooperation and called for its sustenance.

It would be recalled that on Aug.10, 2020, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the affected local government officials over insubordination and abuse of office.

Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced this after Chairman, House Committee on Local Government,Barrister Mohammed Alkali moved a motion on the insubordination activities of the affected council officials during the House emergency sitting in Lafia

The speaker said that for the chairman of Nasarawa LGC and Deputy Chairman, Karu Local government council to abandoned their official duties to attend the court case of the former Secretary to the Government of the state (SSG), Alhaji Aliyu Tijani Ahmed is disservice to the state and act of insubordination.

The Speaker, then set up a seven man committee to investigate the two affected local government officials.

” The members of the committee are Dr. Peter Akwe to serve as Chairman of the committee, Barrister Mohammed Alkali is the Deputy Chairman of the committee while other members of the committee are Hon Mohammed Omadefu, Hon Mohammed Agah Muluku, Hon Aliyu Dogara, Hon Danladi Jatau while the Deputy Clerk of the House Ibrahim Musa is the Secretary of the Committee.

The speaker gave the committee three months to work and submit its report.
