AOIYEO presents chatter of demands document to Ona of Abaji

The executive director of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowernt Organization (AOIYEO) Commandant Issac David, has presented a chatter of demands documents to the Ona of Abaji and chairman of the FCT council of chiefs, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa.

David, while presenting the document to the monarch at his palace on Wednesday, said the chatter of demand document contained demands of people of the FCT, which he said are major challenges facing them.

He said all the FCT stakeholders also made their contributions in the document, including the 885 communities in the territory made their inputs in the document.

He said the organization first presented the document to aspirants during the last year’s area councils chairmanship election in the FCT, saying the document will also be presented to candidates of various political parties vying for elective positions in 2023 general election.

According to him, the natives of the territory will only vote for any candidate of a political party that agreed to acknowledge and sign their demands, which he said the natives have been demanding for such as mayoral status, ministerial appointment and among other demands.

“We brought this document to the Ona of Abaji who is also chairman of the FCT council of chiefs Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, so that whoever that is seeking for our vote in 2023 election, will come to this palace, where the traditional ruler will read out the demands bothering natives of the FCT, “he said.

Issac, therefore, said that the natives will only vote for a candidate in 2023 election that agreed to their demand, saying the document will enhance the communities to discover their right.

” Besides, the era where politicians will mount the podium during campaigns, making empty promises and at the end, they up giving you Maggi and salt are over. We are now in digital era, any politician who want our vote should come and sign our demands before we can vote for such politicians, “he said.

The madaki of Abaji, Alhaji Ibrahim Aguye, who received document on behalf of the Ona of Abaji, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, commended AOIYEO for compiling such documents.

He promised to present the document to the Ona of Abaji Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa and also briefed him about the aim and objectives of the chatter of demand document.

Also speaking, the youth leader of the FCT Youth Network, Comrade Umar Ibrahim Makeri, said presentation of charter of demand by the natives of the FCT was only the best way, saying the youth will no longer continue to ember on protest that has not been yielding any positive result.

He said despite Niger Delta youth have always embark on protest in any of their demand, saying the charter of demand will help in facilitating demand of the teaming youths of the FCT.
