Arc. Shehu Tukur is the Nasarawa West Zonal Chairman of All Progressives Congress( APC) and now aspirant for Nasarawa West Senatorial District declared that he is more competent, qualified and experienced to occupy the vacant seat of Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja.
Arc. Tukur, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Canonic Associates said this when he led his campaign team on a visit to the Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and other State Lawmakers from Nasarawa West Senatorial District today in Lafia.
It would be recalled that Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, has been elected and inaugurated as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving the Nasarawa West Senatorial Seat vacant at the NASS.
Tukur who is vying for the vacant seat also said that he has what it takes to take the Senatorial Zone to the next level of development if elected.
The aspirant said that the visit was to solicit the support of the Speaker and lawmakers from the senatorial district at the state legislature to enable him to win the APC ticket and the senatorial election.
“I am here with my campaign team to officially inform you of my aspiration and to solicit your support to actualize my dream.
“My intention to contest for the senate seat of our zone followed the vacancy created by the emergency of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu as National Chairman of our great party, APC
“I have waited for Mr. Speaker to declare for the seat but he did not. I said If Mr. Speaker will contest for the seat I will not contest and since Mr. Speaker is not contesting, I am contesting because the senate is for competent people, for high character people.
“I have the experience and has what it takes for the seat and if given the Mandate I will not disappoint,” he said.
Tukur promised not to disappoint the people of the zone if elected.
He has assured of quality representation at the National Assembly if elected.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, has expressed delight with the visit and has assured Tukur of his prayers.
“I want to welcome you to my office and honestly, I am delighted about your coming.
“I am aware that you are contesting for the senate seat of our Zone. Some people that are contesting for the seat were also here, you are here today and some will still come and my message remains the same because we are waiting for directions for our leader.
“We have a leader in the state, very soon, we will sit down and discuss the issue. We will work together as a team on that, ” he said.
“I want to tell you that you are one person I cherished for your truthfulness, calmness, sincerity and as a complete gentleman,” the Speaker said.
Balarabe Abdullahi has urged stakeholders and members of the party to continue to work in unity for the progress of the party beyond 2023 in the state and the country at large.
The Speaker prayed and wished Arc. Tukur well in his senatorial ambition.
