In a bid to support media, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state on Thursday evening presented an official vehicle to the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Umar Sa’idu.
Similarly, the Governor has presented a working vehicle to the State branch of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
The Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Dr Ladan Salihu who presented the vehicles to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Governor, assured of more support to the unions.
The Chief of Staff expressed confidence that the new official vehicle presented to the NUJ Chairman will play a greater role in assisting him to bring positive results for NUJ in his quest to provide quality leadership to members.
“I will like to on behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi and one of you present these two vehicles to the leadership of NUJ and NAWOJ in fulfilment of his promise when you paid him a courtesy call.
“Our Governor keeps his words by purchasing the vehicles to the leadership of our noble profession. Chairman NUJ, I think you are the most lucky Chairman that I know, because within a few months of your assumption of office recieved alot of blessings for the union.”
The Chief of Staff enjoined the leadership of NAWOJ to make good use of the vehicle for the betterment of the entire members of the union in the state.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado expressed gratitude to the Governor for the gesture and called on working journalists in the state not to relent in supporting the Governor towards ensuring effective implementation of his laudable policies and programmes.
“If we could recall, some time last month, the Bauchi state Council of NUJ paid a solidarity visit to His Excellency where the Chairman of the NUJ Comrade Umar Sa’idu solicited for a means of transportation particularly for his office and Alhamdulillah, today we are here to present a 406 to the chairman purchased by the Governor.”
“On behalf of the beneficiaries, Your Excellency, we want to thank you more sincerely for these gesture and I prayed for more synergy and collaboration between your Government and Journalists.”
In their separate remarks, the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, North East Zonal Secretary of NAWOJ, Hajiya Halima Dimis and the State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Bulak Afsa pledged continued partnership with the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed for the success of his administration.
