The minister of the FCT, Muhammad Musa Bello, on Tuesday, inaugurated the newly appointed board chairmen and members of the FCT administration, in which he urged them to be guided strictly by public service rules in the course of discharging their duties.
Bello, said the inauguration of the board chairmen and members was as a result of their track records in the area of expertise and competence in their various fields of endeavor.
He, therefore, urged them to justify their appointment to be committed and steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities as board chairmen and members.
He, however, said that in less than two months, the outgoing APC administration will be handing over to another incoming APC administration, saying it is pertinent on them to keep on with the good work they started during their first tenure as board chairmen and members.
The minister, however, said that his administration has within the past seven and half years be conscious to live up to the expectations of the founding fathers of the FCT administration through not only embarking on infrastructures but also making Abuja city a place where every Nigerian feel at home.
“And we have within the past seven and half years been able to deliver a good numbers of projects which are so numerous that I can not be able to enumerate them here,” he said.
He said his administration has been able to address the problem of electricity, through providing solar lights, water, health facilities and tackling of gully erosions among others.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the board chairmen, the reappointed chairman of the FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB) Dr Musa Yahaya Muhammad, exppressed gratitude to the minister for finding them worthy for the appointment as board chairmen and members of parastatals in the FCT.
“And indeed, we consider this appointment as a rear privilege and a call to national duty to our dear father land,” he said.
He added, Hon minister sir, I wish to pledge again of our renewed commitment to work in line with the vision of this administration, which we believe will be sustain by the incoming APC administration,” he said.
He further promised that the board chairmen and members will strive to uphold good governance, tackle corruption and also ensure inclusive economic growth for all residence of the FCT and Nigeria in general.
