As results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections filters in ahead of official declaration by the electoral body, INEC, former governor of Kogi state and the Director General of the Kogi State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, was woefully defeated at his polling unit by the Labour party.
The ex-Governor who cast his votes in his co untry home, Abejukolo, in Omala local government area of Kogi state, lost woefully to the Labour party at Unit 15 in Abejikolo as the Labour Party garnered 85 votes, the ex governor’s party PDP got 61 votes and the the APC which has been fighting to free the area from the grip of the former governor secured 41 votes
However, the final results shows the PDP winning Omala local government with 46 Votes while the APC came second. Below is the breakdown of the Presidential election result:
APC — 6,374 Votes
PDP — 6,420 Votes
DIFFERENCE – 46 Votes
The former governor who has been in his local government area for days now, lobbying electorate to vote for his party was said to have been angry over the abysmal result his party got after the election. He was overheard saying to one of his lieutenants, “you allowed me to waste my dollars again”.
Alhaji Idris was shocked at the result saying if the ruling party with no funds for mobilization could pull such votes in an election he spent a huge amount of dollars in, then he has no credibility in the party anymore.
The ex-Governor was said to have left his hometown in anger and cautioned his party men not to involve him in any political activities for now.
