Breaking News: Nasarawa Govt, revokes N43.2m road contract over shoddy job
Nasarawa State Government, on Saturday, has revoked contract for the construction of four kilometre link road in Gudi town of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State
State Commissioner for works, Housing and Transport Alhaji Adamu Gosho announced this during a fact finding visit to the site in Gudi.
The contract which was awarded for Forty Three Point Two million naira in November last year had a completion period of four months.
The Commissioner attributed the decision to poor and slow space of work by the contractor.
He warned construction firms and individuals handling Government projects in the State to adhere strictly to contract specifications or risk revocation.
He equally called on those who do not have the capacity to handle such contracts to steer clear from bidding.
Gosho maintained that the State Government will no longer accept a situation where people collect contract they cannot execute.
He added that Government will continue to ensure strict supervision of contracts for such projects, adding that anyone found as lacking capacity will have such a contract terminated.
Besides, the Commissioner also visited the forty one point nine kilometre Nunku – Agyaga – Rinze Road where he
expressed satisfaction with the level of work executed by the contractor.
He charged the contractor to maintain the tempo and standard of the work.
In an interview, project manager of the construction firm Engineer Wille Gu, represented by the Chief Engineer Vwapamkai Bafyau assured the Government and the residents of the area of timely completion of the road project.
The Nunku Agyaga Rinze Road is among the seven roads projects awarded by the state government for the contract sum of four point three billion naira.
It would be reported that When the commissioner visited Gudi town of Akwanga road construction, the contractor handling the project was no where to be found.
