Bwari: Tribunal judgement is a ploy to shortchange electorates – PDP chairman

The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the FCT, Sunday Zaka, has said that the nullification of the election of the incumbent of Bwari area council, John Gabaya, by the election tribunal is a ploy to shortchange the electorates that voted massively for the party.

Our correspondent had reported that the election tribunal sitting at Wise zone 2, magistrate court, Abuja, led by a three members panel by Chief magistrate Muinat Olashade Oyekan, had on Tuesday, nullified elections of Gabaya as chairman of Bwari area council and declared APC Shekwolo Haruna Audi as winner of the February 12, 2022 council election.

The tribunal had also nullified elections across some poling units in Kuje area council, while ordering INEC to conduct for a supplementary elections for chairmanship within 90 days across the affected polling units.

Zaka, while reacting to the judgement in an interview with our reporter at state PDP secretariat in Abuja, on Thursday, said the party received the news of nullification of the election by the tribunal with great shock.

He said people of Bwari, AMAC and Kuje area councils came out vote massively for the party and their flag-bearers on February 12, 2022 election, because of the democratic dividends provided at the grassroots level.

“And since lower court has decided to take such decision by nullifying elections across these area councils, we are confident that the apex court will surely look at the matter and do justice to it,” he said.

He, therefore, called on party supporters and members across the 62 political wards of the FCT remain calm and keep with the PDP, saying will surely emerged victorious at the appeal court.

” And we will continue to abide by the rule of law as the party is doing everything lawful in making sure sure that our mandate is restored,” he added.

Recalled that the tribunal had also three weeks ago, nullified the election of the incumbent chairman of AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu of the psptand declared APCs Usman Murtala Karshi as winner of the council election for February 12, 2022.
