Today, birthed another milestone in the history of Iyale as the 14th king of Iyale was given the staff of office by Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. HRH, Drisu Wada Akogwu is the man who submitted himself willingly to the dictate of his destiny.

The man who barely survived his childhood life, so skinny that he was named an infant as a ” Bony child (Ómachikwu)” due to his frail skeletal figure is today given the staff of office, towering over every other person in the kingdom.

About a decade ago when the tussle of who would succeed the stool of Onuh Iyale after the demise of HRH Usman Atulukwu, no one, not even a prophet could predict the choice of Drisu Wada Akogwu.

Who then was Drisu Wada Akogwu when he was just number sixth of his father’s children in the hierarchy? All the permutations was on late Prince Muhammad Wada(Mohdu war), the most elderly in the family of Chief Wada Akogwu.

HRH Drisu Wada Akogwu never dreamt of coming near the throne of Onuh Royale. His appetite for the seat was zero. Time passed and his elder brothers all passed away, indeed, HRH Drisu Wada Akogwu became the next king online.

After the emergence of HRH Engineer Thomas Abimaje, destiny smiled at him. He didn’t have opinions to express when he was called to perform a welcome ritual around the sacred masquerade (Ogede) during the coming home/ welcoming ceremony of HRH Engineer Thomas Abimaje as his successor.

The ascension of HRH Drisu Wada Akogwu and the whole proceedings remained miraculous; even those from other ruling dynasties who should have contested with him were all seen supporting his candidature in mutual solidarity, the way of God is forever mysterious.

HRH himself could not believe the awesomeness of the whole thing and that was why he wept uncontrollably as he’d never done before during his first homecoming/ welcoming in his father’s residence in 2020.

The water settled on his eyes like the lake rolled down his cheeks in rivulets leaving everybody watching him in petrified amazement.

People wondered why a man who should be happy on such a remarkable occasion be seen crying?

The emotional tears dropped to seek God’s guidance to grapple with the reality and the difficult task ahead of him.

To many of us who are indigenes of Royale, the ascension of HRH Drisu Wada Akogwu is the beginning of prosperity, growth, and development for sons and daughters of Italy.

They trooped in their large numbers to celebrate the man in their hearts. They raided the air with spontaneous chants of Aiduuu! Aids! Royale Awaaaa!!! Eeeeee!!!! Sending signals of his total acceptance by all and sundry.

HRH Drisu Wada Akogwu has magical traits which leave me in momentary fantasy. He’s a blessed mnemonist; ask him to tell you the names of all the youths in Royale, he will do without stress because in his life, exist friendship without the boundary of age clad in charisma and finest leadership qualities defined intolerance, confidence, and humility.
