Convention 2022: APC Urged Not To Impose Candidate To Avoid implosion

Ahead of the ruling party, all progressives Congress (APC) forthcoming national convention, the APC- National Stakeholders Supporters Forum (APC-NSSF) has canvassed against the imposition of candidates to avoid implosion in the party.

The APC- NSSF stated this at an interactive meeting with Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura where it admonished the party leadership to learn from what happened to the People Democratic Party(PDP)

The group advised that the party should ensure a level playing ground for a free and fair contest for aspirants ahead of the forthcoming National Convention held on the 26th of February 2022.

According to the National Leader of APC-NSSF, Hon. Yusuf Ardo, the party must come out of the Convention solid and well prepared for the 2023 general elections.

The APC-NSSF Leader said, “the imposition of candidates usually causes very serious crises and rancour in any party”.

He further alluded to the fact that it would create a lacuna within the party which would be capitalised on ed by the opposition.

The APC-NSSF is of the view that the party and its members should take into cognizant the aspirants capacity and track records vis-a-vis the party manifesto to elect the right candidates.

He also referred to the previous imposition of Leadership in the party that brought His Excellency Adams Oshiomhole.

Ardo said the rancour and crisis from that leadership stagnated the growth of the party but for the re-invigorated leadership of His Excellency Mai Mala Buni who came to tidy things up. His leadership brought tremendous growth and expansion to the party, he said.

Also speaking at the occasion the National Women Leader, Dr Vivian Sonny Young said women, youths and people living with disability should be included in all the party structures and governance.

She said they form the bedrock of the political struggle in Nigeria and should not be neglected in all strata of the party.

The APC-National Stakeholders Supporters Forum has been on the frontline in the campaign for good governance and impactful leadership in the party across the country, to maintain a remarkable bonding as well as unity during and after the convention.

In line with its ideals, the group was received by Sen Al-Makura, an aspirant for the National Chairman of the Party, where the group maintained that their support will be thrown behind the Aspirant with the best manifesto that replicates the ideals of the founding fathers of the party.

The Forum acknowledged the leadership qualities of Sen. Tanko Al-Makura, with the assurance of the Forum’s support towards the growth and development of APC if he emerges as the party chairman.

The Forum is currently meeting with all aspirants contesting for the office of the national chairman of the party in efforts to ensure that the best emerge as leaders of the party.
