Coronavirus: Nasarawa Announces More Stringent Measures To Stem Tide

In view of the seriousness and the speed of spread the dreaded Coronavirus is assuming, Nasarawa state government has reiterateted its resolve to ban all social gatherings including weddings, naming ceremonies and advised that such occasions be suspended, or attendance should be restricted to members of the immediate family of not more than 20 people.

A statement from Nasarawa state government ,directed the security personnel to monitor the activities of the residents to ensure strict adherence.

Motor parks in the state are also advised to be collapsed to only one in each Local Government Area, including Lafia, the state capital.

In this regard, the government directs that manifest must be maintained in all the parks.

Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are directed to provide hand sanitizers and face masks in their respective offices.

The government also resolved to engage the services of retired Nurses to run the facilities for the centre of COVID, so as to provide necessary training and experience inview of the acute shortage of manpower in the health sector.

According to a source the governor will embark on visit to isolation centres in the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Medical Centre Mararaban-Gurku, Doma, Akwanga and Awe to inspect facilities and readiness.

The governorr also scheduled to construct strategic reserve to ensure food security as a matter of urgency as food stuff will be procured and stored, for distribution to the people when the need arises.

The governor, re assured of his readiness to rehabilitate ten (10) moribund boreholes in each local government area in the interim to ensure supply of clean water.

While worship centres such as Mosques and Churches are advised to remain closed till further notice,markets are also shut ,except those selling food and pharmaceuticals to cater to the aged and sick
