Covid-19: Kogi Attains Over 100% Target Vaccination, Second Phase Commences.

The second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination has commenced in Kogi state with the official flag off of the exercise on Thursday.
Despite the late commencement of the exercise due to confidence crisis between Kogi state government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), over the pandemic, the state has attained over 100% rate in the administration of the first tranche of the astrazenica/Oxford vaccines which started April 6 this year.

The Executive Director National primary health care development agency, Dr. Abubakar Yakubu, who disclosed at the Flag off of the second dose of Covid-19 Vaccines, expressed satisfaction that the state also recorded minimum, but not serious complains of side effects after administering on the people.
The Commissioner was represented by Dr. Francis Akpa, Director Primary Health Care, expressed appreciation to the vaccines consortium in its efforts to containing the ravaging scourge of the Covid-19
Dr Yakubu appealed to the people of the state who have taken the first dose to make themselves available at all health facilities across the state for the second dose.
While commending the frontline workers for their painstaking efforts in meeting the set target, explained that the next phase involving all categories of persons would begin after the completion of the administration of the second dose, .
Speaking at the occasion, the state Commissioner of health Dr Saka Haruna Audu, represented by Dr Francis Akpa disclosed that the state received 43,900 doses of the Vaccines representing 4,390 vile, and that 31,960 doses were administered on 26,665 person
The Executive Secretary explained that the state recorded 102% of the target population, while only 14% of wastage rate was recorded by the state.
Dr Yakubu who said that the State adopted best practices to achieve the significant result, also expressed satisfaction, despite the conspiracy theory no untold effect or side effect after administering the vaccines across the state.
There where goodwill messages from WHO, CAN, JNI, NUJ, Commissioner of Police, and other critical stakeholders, who described the feat achieved by the state in the administration of the first dose as unprecedented.
