COVID-19: Nasarawa Completes Work On Centre For Diseases Control, Establishes 10 Isolation Centres.

In its determination to curb the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus and other communicable diseases,Nasarawa state government has embarked on the construction of Centre for Disease Control and 10 Isolation Centres across the state.

Nasarawa state governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule who disclosed this during a state wide broadcast on Tuesday,said the government is poised to curb the spread of communicable diseases in the state.

He said when completed, the diseases control centre will take care of infectious Diseases, Diagnostic and Research Centre

Also the state government, in its effort to combat the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic, opened ten isolation and treatment centres across the state.

Engineer Sule stated that the centre for diseases control, located in the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia, when completed, will be the second largest in the country and first of its kind in Northern Nigeria.

Having realised the importance of such a centre during periods of epidemic and emergencies as being experienced presently, the Governor stated that government is committed to the completion of the centre without further delay.

“Accordingly, concerted efforts are being made to partner with the Federal Government and other relevant Development Partners in that regard,” he added.

The isolation centres established across the state are, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Akwanga Model Hospital, Nasarawa Model Hospital, Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Obi General Hospital and Awe General Hospita.

Others are, Toto General Hospital, Mararaban Gurku Medical Centre, Agbashi General Hospital and Keana General Hospital.

While restating the commitment of his administration to keep to directives by the Federal Government, as well as the advice of relevant professional bodies, restricting movements, social distancing, regular washing of hands, avoiding large gatherings, among others, the Governor disclosed that necessary measures have been put in place to enforce compliance with the directives to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Engineer Sule then called on all those who recently returned to the state from foreign trips, to isolate themselves for 14 days and report any symptoms related to the pandemic to the nearest health centres.
