The Director General, Electoral Institute TEI , Dr Saad Umar Idris has appealed to Nigerians to embrace the new technology of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC , saying it is the best way to bequate democratic practices.

The Director General dropped this message during the two day workshop and training of trainers TOT holding in Ibeto Hotel Abuja on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th in preparation to the 2023 general elections.

According to the helmsman of the Electoral Institute, he maintained that the new process and it’s workability cannot be compromised considering the last mock exercise to text BVAS by INEC.

He maintained that the decision to convene the stakeholders was a follow up to the earlier one in August 2022 against the backdrop of the new technology and it’s workability.

He opined that with the new voting system, the issue of over voting, electoral fraud, among many other malpractices been perpetrated by the political class will be reduced to the barest minimum.

“In the 2023 general elections, you will have to go through accreditation using BVAS , as the system detects proxy and ghost voters for the forthcoming elections.”

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmud Yakubu for bringing to reality the new model that will curb electoral malpractices in Nigeria.

He urged the political parties to ensure a thorough orientation and reorientation of their supporters and voters, so as to ensure no Nigerians will be disfranchised in the general elections.
