Hon Jafaru Shaibu, a prominent People’s Democratic Party, PDP, aspirant for Akoko-Edo South Constituency 2 when elected in the Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, in a statement said he is the choice of the people of constituency 2 based on his antecedents and track record of performance.
Shuaibu, a grassroot politician and a loyal unwavering PDP member through whose action and in action has brought positive impact to fold of PDP.
The politician has both experienced in the public and private sector with an urgent call on party faithfuls to use this medium to reward his loyalty by supporting his candidature. He said when elected, he won’t fail to attract the benefits of democracy to Akoko-Edo Constituency, and in extension, to Akoko-Edo PDP and its people.
Speaking further, he said, ‘I am going to the state house of assembly to represent the good people of constituency 2 to make sure that necessary laws are enected that will be specifically needed to impact the growth and development of my constituency, not forsaking all other constituencies however.
“The first task is for us to be acquinted with the duty of legislator at the house of assembly. There are three arms of government that are co-equal, and the legislative is one of them, just as the executive and the judiciary. It is important because it makes laws that the judiciary interprets and the executive executes. And another very important function of the legislator is to represent the interest of the people, and that’s why I am interested in becoming a member to represent the ultimate interests of the South Constituency, Akoko-Edo. I have been doing my personal bit for the people, however, there are obvious limitations. Going to the house of assembly will give me the authority to do more than I am presently doing. I am youthful and hence have the vigour to do what is expected of me.
“My ultimate goal would be to effectively represent the people when elected, and to show others that will be coming after me that true and effective representation is possible. Mine would be about service and empowerment, the needed tools to galvanize the people to participate in government. I am a grassroot politician and there I will focus my attention.
Democracy and it’s dividends must be felt at that level. I will encourage frequent Town hall Meetings to keep up to date issues as they come and not to be dissociated from the people, an offense most politicians are guilty of when voted into office.
“The improvement of the standards of living of the people at the grassroot through empowerment programs and other key economic interventions will be my major focuses,” he concluded exuding so much confidence.
