Engineer Sule Commends His Predecessor, Describes Sen. Al-makura As Global Figure.

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule,described his immediate past predecessor, Senator Umaru AL Makura as not only being a figure in the state but also in global politics.

Engineer Sule stated this while speaking at a luncheon organized in honour of Senator Al-makura, to celebrate his conferment of a honorary doctorate degree by the Federal University Lafia (FULafia), on Saturday.

Speaking at the Taal Conference Hotel, venue of the luncheon, an obviously elated Engineer Sule, called on the lawmaker not to relent coz l but to continue to be a source of pride to the state, as he continue q give his best to the state and country at large.

“Indeed, most of the national assignments you are now involved, is because of your capacity, competence, experience and honesty,“ the Governor told Sen. Al-makura.

Engineer Sule added that the number and calibre of dignitaries from across the country, who turned up to support Senator Al-makura at the combined convocation ceremony, underscored his relevance and the role he plays in the political landscape of the country.

“We pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide you, so you will continue to advice and guide us to continue to provide what is best for Nasarawa State and what is best for Nigeria,” he said.

Earlier, at the convocation proper, the Governor congratulated all the distinguished Nigerian statesmen who were conferred with honorary doctorate degrees, describing the feat as manifestation of their enormous contributions towards the development of the country.

In a chat with journalists shortly after the luncheon, Senator Al-makura, described the honour done to him alongside other notable Nigerians, as well deserved, stressing that it will serve as impetus to continue to do as much as we can in order to add value to our society.

He said that it never occurred to him that the little ways they are doing their things, in their own endeavours, in the areas they were opportune to serve, people were looking and assessing what they were doing.

Senator Al-makura noted that whatever they did, have the capacity to add value to the society.
“This is an honour that should be cherished, this is an honour that should be an elixir to all of us to continue to do.”
