Expect more dividends of democracy in my administration- AMAC chair tells residents

 

The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has assured residents of the council to expect more dividends of democracy from his administration.

He said since all court litigations against him are now over, he will now settle down to concentrate on how his administration will embark on providing viable infrastructures that will impact on the lives of entire good of the council.

Our correspondent had reported that a three members panel of judges of the appeal tribunal led by Justice Suleiman Belgore, had on Saturday, set aside the election petition tribunal ruling which declared Murtala Usman Karshi of the APC as chairman of AMAC and affirmed Maikalangu Zaka as the duly elected chairman of the council.

Zaka, who stated in a press statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on media and public Affairs, Kingsley Madaki, in Abuja on Monday, appreciated the people of AMAC for their support and prayers through out the legal battle.

He said the battle of supremacy for the soul of AMAC chairmanship position would not have been won without the support and prayers of good-hearted residents of AMAC, saying the people had stood their ground to ensured justice prevailed.

Maikalangu, also commended the three-man panel of the appeal tribunal led by Justice Suleiman Belgore as Chairman, while Justice Yusuf Halilu and Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie were members of the panel, for doing justice to his appeal before them.

He also commended them for standing by the truth for not allowing their conscience to be bought by selfish politicians, saying the three justices have written their names with gold in the sand of times and that posterity will always judge in their favour because of the singular act to do justice to people of AMAC.

According to the chairman, now that the distractions are over, it is time for him to work for the people who elected him into office, while assuring AMAC residents of more democratic dividends.
