Chairman of the PDP in the FCT, Hon. Sunday D. Zaka, while inaugurating the committee in Abuja, said the party decided to set up a seven-man committee to settle all the aggrieved emanating from the recent primaries of the party across the six area councils.

He said it has always been the party’s tradition as a ‘family’ to always settle any grievances that may arise at the end of primary elections among its aspirants, members, and supporters to continue to keep united.

“In FCT, according to the law in operation, which says it’s only elected delegates who were elected to participate in the election of candidates for political parties
that can vote. And despite that, there was the need to always ensure that reconciliation processes are put in place to address any grievances,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the reconciliation committee, Comrade Ezikel Dalhattu Musa, commended the party for appointing to lead the reconciliation team, saying the move for reconciliation of the party’s aspirants, members, and supporters who have reservations during and after the party’s primaries was important ahead of the general elections.

He said the party’s leadership had resolved to reconcile all contestants in the last party’s primaries so that the party would go into the 2023 general elections as a united force and one family.

He said though none of the contestants in the last primary election for the house of representatives had said anything or raised voices after the primaries, the reconciliation was necessary.

“You cannot say everything is good. We are not angels. To put our house in order and prepare ourselves ahead of the 2023 general elections as a united family, there is a need for reconciliation,” he said.
