FCT Polls: PDP Shall Take over Power from APC In Kwali – Says Chairmanship Candidate.

The Chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwali Area Council, FCT, Abuja, for the February 12, 2022 council election, Hon Haruna Mohammed Pai, has expressed confident that the opposition PDP shall takeover the mantle of leadership from the ruling APC during forthcoming council election in the area.

Hon Pai, who was speaking with our reporter, over the weekend during an interview, said the ruling APC under the leadership of Hon Danladi Chiya, has performed below expectation, especially tackling the perennial water problem facing the rural people across the council.

He said despite the huge monthly allocations the APC led administration has been receiving from the federal account, there was no meaningful projects on ground that has impacted on the lives of residence of the area.

He said most of people of the rural communities have no access to portable drinking water, saying women in rural villages mostly trek far distance in search of water at the streams.

He said, in an effort to tackle challenges of water problem, he has been able to sink and refurbished over 50 boreholes across some rural communities and also within Kwali metropolis.

“In fact, I am very much comfortable that I shall face the incumbent at the election, which I am telling confidently that the PDP shall emerge victorious. Because I want to tell you that from length and breth of Kwali Area council, there is no good drinking water as our women in rural areas are suffering which triggered me to repair over 50 boreholes across Kwali Area council,” he said.

He said it was quite unfortunate that some women leave their homes as early as 5:am to trek for several kilometers in search of drinking water through digging out sand from the stream.

“Even in Kwali town, I repaired a borehole after somebody complained that they don’t have portable drinking since the borehole has broken down,” he added.

The chairmanship said since there are councillors across the ten political wards, it was expected that each councillors were expected to be given responsibility in addressing some of the challenges.

The PDP chairmanship candidate, said his campaign shall be based on issues based which he said shall focused on his manifestos, while calling on his supporters to continue to remain law abiding constituted authorities in the area.
