The long period of rain in this year’s season has showed the inability of FCT administration to provide infrastructure like roads, housing, transportation and water to it’s residents.

A media analyst and consultant, Abubakar Yusuf bare his mind that the dearth of these social services at the seat of government had also extended to the area councils with worst consequences.

“You can’t imagine a well built motorable roads does not exist in the six area councils as commuters and car owners have been subjected to untold hardship moving from their residents to offices , business locations and others important functions at rainy season.”

“Some areas at the seat of government like Apo district, Jabi, Gudu, Utako, Maitama, Guzape, and many other areas are battling with dilapidated roads across the city centre, while the area councils are left with mere grading of roads and abandoned projects that are easily washed away by rains.”

He appealed to FCT administration to redirect it’s energy into provision of basic infrastructure as transportation had been so critically neglected in recent times.

“Whenever it rains, commuters, workers, travellers within FCT are held to ransom for hours , with some of them returning to their homes the following day of any heavy down pour, this is uncalled for.”

“What had suddenly gone wrong with the robust road, rail transportation put in place , this is unfortunate and need to be redressed.”

He pleaded with the federal government to intervene through a special vehicle to address the growing infrastructure deficit and decay, particularly in the FCT and it’s environment.
