FCT Teachers Strike: Senator Aduda Meets FCT NUT Executives.

Following ongoing strike by the primary school teachers if the Local Education Authority (LEA) over non payment of their promotion arrears and other entitlements, Senator Philip Aduda, on Saturday, met with the state executives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Abuja.

Aduda, while addressing the NUT executives, described the warning strike as unfortunate, in which he assured the union that he will meet with the relevant stakeholders in order to find a common ground for the benefit of the parents and pupils.

“And it was on this premise that I want to assure the union that I shall meet with the stakeholders across the area councils level in order to ensure that your demands are met so that our children can go back to school,”he said.

Responding, the chairman of the NUT in FCT, Comrade Stephen Knabayi, appreciated Senator Aduda for his intervention, saying the union will be eager to get positive response from the stakeholders so that primary school teachers can return to their classes.

Our correspondent had reported that, the NUT FCT had embarked on a five days warning strike, which elapsed last Wednesday, but the union had asked the secondary school teachers to return to classes and directed the primary school teachers to continue with the strike until their promotion arrears are paid by the council chairmen.
