Stakeholders of the FCT chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have resolved to adopt a consensus mode during the party’s ward congress across the six area councils of the territory.

Addressing newsmen shortly after a closed doors APC stakeholders meeting, which lasted over six hours, minister of state for FCT, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, said the decision was arrived at the party stakeholders meeting, which she said was unanimously agreed to adopt consensus mode for the ward congress.

“And as you can see everyone is smiling, as it is a unanimous decision which we arrived at that the APC FCT chapter will be going for ward congresses God willing by consensus as stipulates in the party’s constitution in a date that is yet to announced by the national secretariat,” she said.

She said the stakeholders also delibrated extensively on litigations in court by some chairmanship aspirants and discovered that the litigations will not stop the party from going ahead with the ward congresses.

“APC has already presented its chairmanship candidates across the six area councils and we stand by these candidates, even though litigation is going on in any way, it’s the prerogative of the party also to stand by the truth and by the party’s constitution and that does not in any way stop us from going to our ward congresses,” the minister said.

Also speaking, the chairman of the APC in FCT, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, said the decision of the party stakeholders to unanimously resolved to adopt consensus mode for the ward congress was a well come one.

He said since the resolution was based and guided by the party’s constitution, it is allowed to embark on consensus mode.

A former senator that represented FCT, Senator Usman Jibrin Wowo, described the resolution to adopt concensus mode as excellent, saying adopting such process will minimized rancour among party members.
