Flooding: Benjamin Ojodale laments overflow of water rendering him and thousands of Kogites homeless.
As flooding continues to render thousands of people homeless and destroyed farmlands on daily basis in Kogi State, convener of the Confluence 21 Forum (C21F), Comrade Benjamin Ojodale, who is a landlord residing behind Kogi State House of Assembly Quarters Lokoja has been affected by the resurface flooding occasion by release of water from Ladgo dam in the Cameron.
Ojodale who described the situation as most unfortunate, noted that the government of the day should do the needful as to cushion the effect by providing relief materials to the affected citizens across the State.
Benjamin Ojodale an advocate peace and good governance was speaking today after thousands of houses submerged, persons render homeless and farmlands destroyed and nothing tangible done by the government, adding that such situation is the worst he has ever witnessed in his life.
The C21F boss said the devastating flooding compelled him to relocate to a hotel where he now paid huge amount of money to feed and accommodates his family members.
“This is a natural disaster but government has a big role to play by rendering assistance to affected victims. This is a critical situation people have found themselves in and there is need for a government to respond to avoid more disasters.
“My house and entire neighbourhood have been taken by flood, the assembly quarters is not left out as some building were also overwhelmed by the flooding.
Ojodale who is also a former chairmanship aspirant for Kogi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigaria, NYCN) calls on governments at levels and well to do Nigerians to come to the aid of flood victims by establishing an Internally Displace Persons camp (IDPs) in order to cater for them.
Ojodale has also sympathized with his fellow flood victims across the globe and particularly Kogi State, urging them to put their trust in God as the only supreme with the power over everything.
