As heavy rains flowed into August, floods have continued to spell disasters and displaced many people from their homes, and destroyed infrastructure including the cemetery where dead people are being laid to rest.
In Lokoja, Kogi State capital, massive landslides have hit Angwan Kura Muslim Cemetery destroying many graves and exposing dead bodies. This, the local have raided an alarm and solicited support from members of the public to enable them overcome the unfortunate situation.

The community have appealed to the government and well-to-do Kogites to come to their aid and find a lasting solution to this recurring disaster.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, on Tuesday provided 50 bags of Cements to the affected community.
The donation of Commissioner’s relief materials was made through Hon. Adam Bala Justice, Supervisory Councilor Budget and Planning in Lokoja local government council.

He said the Solid Minerals Commissioner was concerned about the tragedy that occurred on the community hence swift to action and donated 50 bags of cements.
Bala Justice noted that the 50 bags of cements was handed over to the cemetery committee headed by Alhaji Muhammadu Musa, the Sarkin Ladan of lokoja.
On his part, shortly after receiving the succour from the representatives of the Commissioner, the Sarkin Lada Lokoja and head of the central Cemetery Committee, Alhaji Muhammadu Musa lauded the Commissioner’s effort at providing succour to mitigate the disaster.
He described Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu as a generous and humane leader, who is emulating the quality leadership style of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
He prayed to God for the success of GYB led administration and for the God Almighty to increase Bashir Bashir Gegu in wealth, sound health, long life, and prosperity so that his people will continue to benefit from his largesse.
