Godfatherism hindering Abia’s development in all facets – Guber aspirant, Anyaogu

A gubernatorial aspirant from Abia State, Chief James Anyaogu, has opined that the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have failed Nigerians in all indices of developments.
The Abia aspirant also condemned in ste the godfatherism syndrome being practiced in some sections of Nigeria and regretted that the undemocratic practices have impeded many political office holders in the country from delivering their electoral promises, pointing out that the godfatherism syndrome had presently limited many elected officeholders from carrying out their constitutional duties, thereby, they are teleguided through a secret arrangement they entered before their emergence as governors.
Anyaogu who made his feelings known in an interview with DAILY POST on Tuesday, in Umuahia, the Abia capital, regretted that such undemocratic practice has been institutionalized in Abia state by major power brokers, emphasizing that the syndrome is not peculiar to Abia alone, as godfatherism syndrome is also seen in APC, that has not done better as a ruling party.
“The APC, at the state level here already have Godfathers, one of whom was accused of stalling the progress of Abia state under the dispensation”, he added.
On speculations in some quarters that he is being backed by prominent godfathers from Abia state, Chief Anyaogu maintained that he has no political Godfather and affirmed that ordinary Abia people are his Godfathers.
The Abia guber aspirant further used the medium to state that he does not have any godfather, affirming that ordinary Abia people are his Godfathers.
