Anambra State Governor, Governor Willie Obiano has declared war against His Royal Majesty, Igwe Peter Ikegbunne Udorji and Eziagulu-Otu Community over the Visit of the Monarch to President Muhammad Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
The Governor had suspended the Monarch alongside 11 others for going to Aso Villa on a thank you Visit to Mr President for his developmental strides in Anambra State and south East in General. The Governor’s anger with these Traditional Rulers was that they did not seek his approval before going on such visit. And also, why should be Prince Engr Arthur Eze that will lead these Monarchs to Mr President.
it is on record that since Governor Obiano became the Governor of the State and with all the things Mr President is doing in the State,he has never for one day deemed it fit to rally the Traditional Rulers,captains of Industry and Business communities in the State to pay a courtesy visit to Mr President. Many States in the South East has done it or even Invited Mr President to their state.
It is on record that Anambra State is one of the greatest beneficiaries of APC Led Federal Government programmes. In South East, they have the highest number of Appointees at the Federal level. And From Tradermoni, School Feeeding Programme, Npower, Zik Museum, 2nd Niger Bridge, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway ,Conditional Cash Transfer of N5000 to indigent Citizens and so many other initiatives of the APC led Government at the Centre.
What Governor Obiano and APGA has succeeded in doing here in Anambra State is to continue to use the instrument of the State Media and Some Stakeholders to demarket President Buhari and APC in Anambra State, while pretending to be a friend with Mr President on e he gets to Abuja, a ploy APGA bas deployed once Election is around the corner.
So what is happening in Eziagulu-Otu is not a surprise thing to people like us. Last week, in one of my articles, I stated that Governor Obiano is making a move to crown another Igwe for Eziagulu-Otu, which was later displayed by PG of Aguleri in their protest.
Now, the battle has moved to Otuocha High Court. One of the contenders to the throne of Eziagulu Otu Aguleri , Mr. Michael Enemuo (Omekagu)has sued the state government seeking an interlocutory order restraining the Governor or his agents from issuing certificate of Recognition to one Lagos returnee Chief Lawrence Nwaofia or any other person as the traditional ruler of Eziagulu Otu Aguleri Community pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit. The processes has since served to the state government.
The Question now, why is Governor Obiano so desperate to crown another Igwe for Eziagulu-Otu. According to Anambra State Traditional Rulers Act 2017 as amended, If Governor suspend A Traditional Ruler, there must be a Administrative Panel of inquiry which has to look into the allegation against the king.
If the King is found guilty, The Governor will send the recommendation ti Anambra State House of Assembly for approval and it must be 2/3 Majority of the House? The question now is, has any Administrative panel being set up and what was their recommendations. Has 2/3 Majority of the House of Assembly approved any recommendations? So what is the Governor in a hurry? It is a very case of total war against the lovers of President Muhammad Buhari.
