Guber poll: Kogi State Govt. Cautions desperate politicians, says it’s will no longer tolerate lawlessness
…..Warns Social Media handlers spreading fake news to desist.
Kogi State Government has reiterated its stand to sustained existing peace, unity and harmony the state enjoy since present administration came on board and warned desperate elements fomenting trouble using a political platform as a bait.
The State Security Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara stated this at the 3rd Annual GYB Seminar organised for Political and Crime Correspondents and Editors, held at Transcorp Hilton Hotels, Abuja with a theme ” FIGHT AGAINST INSECURITY: ACHIEVING RESULTS IN A CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT- THE KOGI EXAMPLE”,

Omodara advised security agencies to remain apolitical in discharging their constitutional responsibilities before, during and after the forthcoming November Governorship election in the State.
“Let campaign be issue based and the people of Kogi State decide the winner”.
“Again, let me warn that we will not lose sight of securing the State. Let me also advise serving and retired security personnel to avoid illegal deployment to Kogi State, unauthorized deployments during campaign and election to the State must be avoided. Don’t allow yourself to be used by unscrupulous politicians seeking for selfish interest”.
“The foundation in security put in place by the administration of Alhaji (Dr) Yahaya Bello is solid enough for our people to continue to live in peace and harmony and for the next administration to build upon”.
The Media in the State has performed their job creditably to promote the activities of the Government. However, some sections of the media have heightened unnecessary political agitation in the State, particularly some social media handlers and some uncultured spokespersons working for some politicians.
According to him, the fake media handlers push out fake news. These fake news or fabricated stories create unwholesome political tensions.
The fake news are shared intentionally to create confusion. No doubt, their action is undermining our democratic process. Let me remind these unpatriotic persons that their action has its consequences. Election is not war, fake or no fake news the right candidate that work better will win”.
Commander Omodara listed Increased security manpower, breaking ethnic and tribal lines fighting insecurity, improved funding for security agencies, applying home grown system fighting insecurity, Trust and Acceptability by the People, building synergy amongst security agencies as well as the will power in tackling insecurity as some measures the present administration put in place to achieve peace
