Barely a week that over ten police officers were gruesomely murdered at Isanlu, dare devil gunmen on Wednesday waylaid travellers at Gegu on the Abuja – Lokoja road, killing the Lokoja businessman and one other person, while over 60 passengers travelling in a luxury bus were allegedly kidnapped and herded into the bush to an unknown destination.
Kogi state police spokesman, William Ayah who confirmed the incident, said two persons were reported killed while several others were injured. He however added that the full report of the attack is still being awaited.
However reports from the area revealed that the gunmen opened fire on the travellers both in private and commercial vehicles
Those that were injured were abandoned, while scores of the passengers were led into the bush.
The bandits are becoming more deadly by the day as in the attack on a bank in Isanlu, they turned their weapons on the police station in the town killing over ten police officers.
Already the state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello while sympathising with the authorities families of those killed in the attack, made a donation of ten million naira for funeral arrangements.
