Hijira 1445: Islamic Cleric urges Nigerians to reverse negative trends.

IDRIS AHMED, LOKOJA.

Kogi state Chairman, Council of Ulamau, Sheikh Salman Adam, has appealed to Nigerians to reverse from the current negative trends that has pushed the country to the economic, political, religious and moral decadence.

In his welcome address delivered at this Year’s celebration of Hijira, (Islamic calendar), urged all citizens, especially the Muslims to migrate from lawlessness to lawfulness as citizens at all times in all places.

Salman, who is also the Chief Imam of Amkpa, admonished the entire Islamic community to use the commencement of the new Islamic calendar 1445 to renew their faith and commitment to righteousness.

” We are enjoined to come closer to Allah and rededicate our lives to His devine service and humanity. Muslims are also enjoined to intensify prayers for good, responsible and responsive Leadership of the country” Sheikh Salman said.

The Chairman also called for general and intensive supplications that Allah should keep Nigerians together, irrespective of ethnic, political and religious differences.

Sheikh Salman used the occasion to expressed gratitude to Kogi state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for his continuous support for all religious groups in Kogi state.

According to the Chairman, the Council has been offering prayers and therefore urged all the people of the state to also pray for the successes of the Governor for the security and safety of the state at all times.

Highlight of the celebration include prayers for the redemption of Federal and Kogi state offered by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, recitation of some parts of the Holy Quraan.

The occasion attracted prominent Islamic scholars, politicians, traditional rulers and top government functionaries.
