How NPC Is Promoting Productivity Locally, Globally Among Nations.

The National Productivity Centre, NPC, is the agency charged with impacting productivity templates in all areas of our national life, to enhance not only a productive nation, by and large, the entire society.

The mandate of the establishment of the National Productivity Centre NPC was embedded in the act that established the ‘productivity hub’, as an agency of government in Nigeria.

Therefore, it is solely charged with acquainting the Nigerian populace both in the public and private sector of the economy, the best and modest way of not only ensuring productivity in all ramifications but in our national life.

Beyond the basic definition and meaning, the center under the erudite scholar and administrator, Dr. Kashim Akor as Director General in the last seven years has carried out wholistic reforms in the establishment, that had placed the productivity hub as a center of excellence in Nigeria.

Since productivity could be related to positive impact/input both In public and private organizations, the desire to constantly review its approach, innovations, and operations cannot be overemphasized.

Hence, the efforts of the current management under Dr. Kashim Akor amid COVID, the global pandemic that had ravaged countries with Nigeria, not an exception, which led to many months of lockdown, called for total overhaul and redirection as well as redesignation, redefinition of ‘Productivity’ to conform with the present realities, best practices by global acceptance.

The leadership of the center without delay rolled out a modest productivity template that is beyond the mandate of training, workshops, talk shops, seminars, and symposia, but an electronically driven system geared towards the juxtaposition of the essence of productivity in Nigeria, and outside the shores of the country.

The success story has led to a series of participation in both local and international programs to mitigate the effects of COVID against the backdrop of maximum productivity from the providers at all levels.

The recent success story of the leadership of the center and its foreign overtures recently to South Africa and Zimbabwe portrayed the efficacy of the agency in its operations both in Nigeria and outside the shores of the country.

This resulted in paper presentations in foreign countries and attracted international recognition and election into the international association.

The recent election of the Director General, National Productivity Centre NPC, Dr. Kashim Akor was a result of his giant strides in spearheading the productivity movement in Africa in line with the prevailing situations.

The Pan- African Productivity Association PAPA election of the DG NPC took into consideration his leadership strides both at home and abroad as a major success story of the center, which attracted giant recognition and election among many others.

It also took into cognizance and recognition the promotion of peer review mechanism among countries/ nations, having conformed with all requirements guiding the peer review in Africa in all ramifications.

With the new election, Nigeria will be expected to play more prominent and leading roles in promoting productivity in Africa and outside African countries, both now and in the nearest future.

The current selection of the top notcher of NPC in Nigeria, Dr. Kashim Akor into Pan- the African Productivity Association PAPA, was a vindication of the efforts of the present management to bequeath a lasting legacy, both on the center, its activities, and by extension the growing impact of the modest way of productivity in Nigeria, and across the globe.
