About 33 students of Ila College of health in Kuje area council of Abuja, graduated during the maiden edition of convocation / matriculation ceremony of the college on Saturday.

In his speech, the director/prioprietor of the college, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Muhammad, expressed gratitude to God for making it possible to witness the memorable convocation of the college health technology, which he said was the first of its kind for pioneer students of the college that have completed their diploma across all department.
He noted that the convocation /graduation ceremony has signified the reality of his dream to come up with college of health technology in 2015 after a critical study of the population dynamics of the FCT, which he said he found out there was need for adequate middle level health manpower to cater for the health needs of the people.
According to him, the Ila college of health technology was established to provide technical manpower necessary to restore, revitalize, operate and sustain the national health policies and substantially reduce youth unemployment.
He added that the health college will also impact education that will enable graduates be self reliant entrepreneurs capable of providing health services to the communities and the general populace.
“Further more, the college aims to provide succor to the ever-increasing quest for admission by candidates into college /schools of health technology in other states of the federation under very dicey conditions and at distant locations,” he said.
He, however, informed the governing council that the management committee of the college decided to hold the important ceremony for its valued graduands with a view to enabling them have sense of belonging as their colleagues in sister institutions across the country.
He, therefore, commended the efforts of the chairman of the governing board towards ensuring that the dreams of duct great citadel is actualized inspite of their royal commitment.
Also speaking, the provost of the college, Mohammad Yakubu Kaiama, while congratulating the graduands, urged parents not to allow the light the college has rekindled on their children to deem.
He also called on parents to ensure their children who have graduated from the college were encouraged to study further health programs, saying community health students after their diploma, there was another program for them to attend.
On his part, the chairman of the council, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, represented by his principal secretary, while congratulating the graduands urged them not to see their diploma program as the end of their studies, saying there was need for them to strive to achieve more in the field of their profession.
“Most especially the community health workers because they will be going to the grassroots as doctors r, nurses or health workers r. So they have to do more to acquire more knowledge,” he said.

Our correspondent report that 78 fresh students were matriculated during the convocation ceremony.
