In Kogi, Anthony Edogbo Bestowed Igala Merit Award over Contributions To Kogi East Development, Dedicates It To Gov. Bello

Anthony Edogbo, the technical assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Private Sector and Digital Economy, a young Nigerian I.T expert and youth advocate, has been conferred a prestigious Igala Merit Award on May 1st, 2023.

The award which was organized by the Who is Who in Igala Land and titled the “2023 Prestigious Igala Merit Award,” was given to Anthony for his immense contributions to the Igala land and the recognition made him the youngest person to be honored with the Igala Merit Award, a significant milestone for the young I.T expert and an inspiration to other youths in Nigeria.

The award ceremony was held at the Chida Event Centre in Abuja, and the award organizer, Chief Hilary Amodu, presented the awards to the 17 recipients. Among the recipients were Dr. Usman Ogbo, Prof. Adah Abu, Dr. Agada Okpanachi Godswill, Hon. Adaji Onalo John, Chief Akpa Paul Hassan, Hon. Diche Nda Tim, Dr. Atah Alewo Joshua, Alhaji Musa Mubarak Abuche, Pawa Justina Omoya, Alhaji Sanusi Abdul, Chief Tijani Usman, Udalor James Onnu, Alhaji Prince Yakub Yakub, Umar Aminu, Alhaji Yaqub Salisu, and Hajia Yusuf Salamatu.

Anthony Edogbo, who is currently serving as Technical Assistant on Private Sector and Digital Economy to the Kogi State Governor and member of the Kogi State investments promotion board, hails from Dekina local Government Area of Kogi State. Anthony’s academic performance stood out while he was in school, representing his schools in various academic contests within and outside the state. He attended Holy Family Nursery/Primary School and St. Peter’s College Idah, where he served as Head boy. Anthony’s academic excellence led him to become the President of the Kogi State University Medical Students Association, where he helped in signing the International Exchange Contract with Brazil and Ghana.

Anthony’s appointment as the Head of IT of the Kogi State Investments Promotion Council (KOSIPA) made him the first undergraduate student to be appointed state government executive member in Nigeria. Anthony’s innovative ideas and proposal for various programs and projects for the Kogi State Ministry of Health and the State Government led to improvement of the sector as facilitated by his boss, Bello.

As the Technical Assistant on Private Sector and Digital Economy to the governor, Anthony’s mandate is to use his office and contacts to improve infrastructural development, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, agriculture, and tourism via close involvement of the private sector in the state affairs.

Anthony’s contributions to the Kogi State government and Igala land have made him an exemplary figure among the youths in Nigeria.

The Igala Merit Award bestowed on Anthony is a significant recognition of his exemplary leadership qualities and contribution to the development of the society. It is a testament to the fact that youths in Nigeria can also make a positive impact in their communities and contribute to nation-building.

Anthony’s recognition as the youngest person to receive the Igala Merit Award is a call to other young people in Nigeria to aspire for greatness and work towards contributing positively to the development of the nation.

In his acceptance speech, Anthony through his representative, Alpha Edogbo, expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the Igala Merit Award and dedicated the award his boss, Governor Yahaya Bello whom he described as the leader of the new generation. He says Governor Bello’s recognition of his efforts and subsequent appointment as a close cabinet member without tribal or religious sentiments makes him a 21st century leader. He also dedicated the award to all the young people in Nigeria who are working hard to make a positive impact in their communities. He encouraged youths in Nigeria to remain resilient and committed to the development of the nation, noting that their efforts would eventually yield positive results in the long run.

Who is Who in Igala is an event organized by Chief Hilary and endorsed by the throne of Ata Igala for the selection and recognition of distinguished personalities across Igala land.
