JSS Yangoji Holds Inter-House Sports Competition, As Students Tasked On Physical Fitness

Students of the Government Junior Secondary School (GJSS) Yangoji Kwali area council of the FCT has urged to always engage in sporting activities to gain physical fitness.
The chairman of the FCT chapter of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Alhaji Usman Abubakar, made the call at the 2nd edition of the school inter-house sports competition on Thursday.
He said constant participation in sporting activities is one of the best ways to improve the physical, mental and health status of the body while calling on parents to encourage their children to always participate in sporting activities in schools.
Usman, who was the chairman of the occasion, however, commended the school management, staff and the school-based management committee for organising the inter-house sport.
He called on the students to remain focused and serious about their studies while congratulating the overall winner of the competition.
He also cautioned the students to continue to be law-abiding to the school management and stay away from engaging in exam malpractices and other social vices that may dent the image of the school.
In the speech, the principal of the school, Mr Ihechinturu Chinasa, said the second edition of the school’s annual inter-house sports competition is an anticipation of the FCT sports festival, which he said he believed is an opportunity for the school to showcase its athletes that will move from glory to glory.
He thanked the executives and members of the school Parents Teachers Association (PTA) traditional rulers as well as Kwali zonal ANCOPPS for their unalloyed support and cooperation with the school.
“And to the competitors, I urge you to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, tolerance and healthy rivalry, as every competitor has in one way or the other contributed to the success of this competition,” he said.

Our correspondent report that Greenhouse won trophies after its emerged first position, while Blue house came second position, Yellow house, 3rd position and Red house 4th position, in which various prizes were presented to them at the end of the competition.
The inter-house competition, also witnessed staff race, principal race as well as a cultural display by various ethnic groups that are students of the school, who wore traditional attires.
