JUSTI Lauds Nasarawa Assembly Efforts, Suspends Strike And Directs Members To Resume Work

The Joint Union of Tertiary Institutions ( JUNSTI), in Nasarawa State has suspended its one week strike and directed members to resume work immediately.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Dr Ada Benjamin and Secretary, Aga Festus and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

” In view of the intervention by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by its chairman Hon Daniel Oga Ogazi ( Deputy Majority Leader) that we should give them two weeks to comprehensively and permanently resolved the issues.

“JUNSTI, after due consultation with our members in congress meeting held earlier today, Thursday the 16th of September, 2021 in our various institutions, hereby announce the suspension of the one-week strike action.

” This is with the strong believe and understanding that this problem will be permanently resolved for the good of every one within two weeks given by the Honourable House Committee on Education, Science and Technology of the state Assembly.

” We hereby call on all our members to resume work immediately,” the statement said.

It would be recalled that the union embarked on strike following their exclusion from the payment of promotions and annual increaments approved for all civil servants in the state by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

The schools are the College of Education Akwanga, Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia and College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia.
