….As Kogi civil service Commission chair lauds foundation.

The Kofa football club of Toto Local Government Council (LGC) of Nasarawa state have won the Maikaya Development Foundation trophy during the 3rd edition of the foundation’s football competition in the area.

The final football match which held at Toto Central Primary School Football pitch, saw Kofa FC beating Emani FC 2:0 about 18 minutes to the end of the end of the second half.

Speaking at the end of the tournament, Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule, represented by the state commissioner for Health, Pharmacy Ahmed Baba Yahaya, commended the managing director/ chief executive of Maikaya Development Foundation, Dr Mohammed Musa Maikaya, for organizing the tournament, saying such competition will bring youth together in the area.

The governor assured his administration will always stand to support individuals or organizations with a vision to adding value to the state especially in the area of youth employment.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Kogi state civil service commission, Barrister Mohammad Musa Tanko Osuku, said he came all the way from Lokoja, the state capital to witness the tournament organized by Maikaya Foundation because of the immense contribution the foundation has been rendering to less privileges and downtrodden in the area.

“In fact, I am glad to be among the guests who came all the way from Kogi state down here to witness this competition. Besides, the organizer of this tournament is my brother and friend whom I have always have regard because of his compassion he has for the people of Toto LGC especially the less privileged ones, “he said.

On his part, the managing director /Chief executive of Maikaya Development Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Musa Maikaya, said he was inspired by the motives primarily of the foundation, which he said has been adding values to lives.

He said adding value can be achieved through peaceful atmosphere, saying he sees the tournament as his contribution towards enhancing peaceful co-existence among people of Toto local government, irrespective of ethnic, religion and tribal affiliation.

According to him, the foundation decided to organized the football tournament in order to bring the youth together from all walks of life so that they will be engage, which he said will divert thier attention from any form of social vices in the society.

He said he was overwhelmed that the tournament was successful without any rancour, adding that he was impressed with the maturity and decorum exhibited by all the foot ball clubs that participated in the tournament.

Maikaya, however, appreciated the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, for sending three commissioners to grace the grand finale of the tournament.

He noted that the that the presence of the dignitaries encouraged his foundation to continue to do more for the growth and development of youth in Toto and Nasarawa state at large.

Our correspondent report that the state commissioner for Youth and sport Ambassador Lucky Issac Yargwa, donated two sets of customized football designed with the portrait of Governor Abdullahi Sule to the two teams.

It was learnt that 15 football clubs drawn across the ten political wards of the local government participated in the competition which began on 14th November, 2022.
