Kogi Election Violence: Police Parades 6 Suspects Over Killing Of PDP Woman Leader.

Kogi state Police command on Tuesday paraded six persons suspected to be the killers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader, late Mrs Salome Abuh, during this year’s November 16 Kogi state governorship election.

One of the principal suspects in the killing Ocholi Edicha has confessed to slapping the late Woman leader on the day of the governorship election due to disagreement over “party issues “.

Ocholi Edicha made the confessional statement at the Kogi state police command headquarters, Lokoja while he was being paraded before journalists.

The suspect however denied participating in the burning of her house when she was inside.

Edicha who claimed to be a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC said “its true that we had issues on the day of the election, and I slapped her,  but I did not partake in her killing”

Earlier, the state police commissioner, Hakeem Busari had told journalists how the suspects were arrested.

According to him, on the 18th November, at about 1630 hrs,one Musa Etu of Ochadamu, Ofu local government area of Kogi state reported at Ofu police Station that at about 10:30hrs of the same date, there was a misunderstanding between one Awolu Zekeri ( late) and Gowon Simeon both of Ochadamu village.

  1. In the process, Gowon Simeon stabbed Awolu Zekeri with a knife on his lap and died on his way to the hospital.

He said that angry youths in the area mobilised to the house of one Simeon Abuh who is an uncle to the suspect and set the house ablaze thereby burnt Mrs Salome Achejuigu,aged 60 to death.

The commissioner said the the police
launched a manhunt for the suspects and arrested six in connection with the killing.

Those arrested are Ocholi Edicha, Adamu Haruna,Onu Egbunu,Musa Alidu,Atai Haruna Egwu and Attach Ejeh

The commissioner said that all the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the killing of late Salome Abuh and would be charged to court as soon as investigation were concluded.
