The women associations in Koton-karfe under the leadership of Hajiya Maimunat Iyami Tatu on Thursday hosted the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu to a marathon meeting at residence Koton-karfe, Kogi Local Government Headquarters.
Mama Iyami Tatu is a former woman leader in the area, notable Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and strong supporter of Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Iyami had hosted the Commissioner alongside her over 500 women supporters group who have resolved to vote APC candidate in the November 11 election.
The former woman leader said she was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Ahmed Usman Ododo is a good successor to Governor Yahaya Bello if truly Kogi people want development beyond 2023.
She said other political parties and their agents are wandering aimlessly in Kogi LG looking for who to scam and deceive into their failed agenda.
Mama Iyami said she has also cautioned her women followers not to give room to those selling lies but rather show sincere commitment during the forthcoming election by voting APC only which said boldly said Ododo.
She commended Engineer Bashir Gegu for his thoughtfulness and large heart of accommodating all not minding where one comes from.
She prayed God for the success of the young Commissioner.
Global Times Nigeria obtained a report that the Commissioner had not left his base since the kickoff of the Kogi State Governorship campaign rally started.
Other Sources said the Kogi LG leader vowed to deliver his party before stepping out for an official engagement outside his domain.
A party chieftain who spoke under condition of anonymity and do not want his identification disclosed told Global Times Nigeria that Kogi LG having three districts A, BC, the APC leaders have divided the zones among themselves to enable them move round the nooks and crannies of the LG.
He said Bashir Gegu and others APC touring Zone C, while Barr. Muhammed Musa Tanko Osuku and his team are moving round Zone as well as Hon Saidu Akawu Salihu and his team in charge of Zone A respectively.
The party chieftain described such ideal as best political calculation he has had ever witnessed all his life in politics.
According to him, the party has silent all opposition in the area as they only be felt on Facebook and nothing more.
Responding, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu thanked Mama Maimunat Iyami Tatu for accepting to support APC to victory, which he said she will never have any cause to regret the ruling party.
Engineer Bashir Gegu who was addressing over 500 women described Mama Iyami as a mother who would always want to see her child succeeding in all endeavors of life.
The elated politician in his usual magnanimity empowered 50 women of the group to start something on their own.
He said women are special creation from God Almighty, hence to treat them with care.
The commissioner accompany to the women meeting by Executive Chairman of the council, Hon Aliyu Daudu, Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on Data Collation to the Governor, Hon Abdullahi Idowu Suleiman, party stalwarts and youths from the area.
