Kogi Guber: Intending defectors to SDP in Kogi LGA make U-turn, return to APC.

Following the quick intervention by the Chairman, Kogi state Civil Service Commission, Barr Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, hundreds of the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, who intended defecting to the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), on Sunday, reversed their decision and maintain status quo.

According to one of the Youth leaders, Yahaya Umar, who explained to our correspndent, that their decision to return to the APC and endorse its candidate Ododo, was sequel to the several meetings held with their leader, Barr Tanko Musa Osuku.

The Youth leader stated that some reasons for their disenchantment, which include, poor leadership, unfulfilled promises, uninclusiveness in party activities and unemployment.

Umar disclosed that Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, who was the former administrator of Kogi LGC, has promised to promptly redress the lingering problems bedeviling the party in the area.

According to Umar, the group has pledged to remain resolute and committed to the All Progressives Congress, despite all that led to their frustrations.

In an interview with our Correspondent in Lokoja on Sunday, Barr Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, who is the Chairman, Kogi state Civil Service Commission and one of the pillars of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kogi local government area, said in every political setting there is bound to be agreement and disagreement.

The disagreements are usually caused by individual and group interests and if not properly handled by good leadership, could ignite crisis, leading to defections to other political parties.

He disclosed that renowned political office holders who have benefited immensely from the present administration, are the leading defectors to the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), hoping to upturn the traditional base of the ruling APC in the LGA.

“I have to swiftly halt the impending damage to the party and the entire people of the area, through several meetings with the Youths, leaders, Women and Stakeholders from the area.

“The people were made to understand that the government has done a lot for their wellbeing in terms of infrastructure, upgrade of traditional rulers, rural electrification project, ultra modern hospital at Gegu and the effort to mitigate menace of annual floodings”. Barr Tanko stated.

Tanko, who was the former Kogi LGC boss, thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for his hard stance against insecurity and criminality.

He also urged the people of his Koton-karfe South electoral in Ward Zone B of Kogi local government area to disregard all entreaties by both the PDP and SDP, which he referred to as empty and dead with no base in Kogi local government area.

Barr Tanko therefore appealed to the people of Kogi local government area to heed to Bello’s choice of a successor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, assuring that the APC candidate will do better than his mentor if elected governor.
