Kogi Lawmaker advises riverine settlers to move to higher grounds to avoid effects of flood.

The Member representing Kogi constituency at the Kogi state House of Assembly, Honourable Idrees Maikudi Aliyu, has appealed to his Constituents residing by the bank of river Niger to relocate to higher grounds to avoid the devastating effects of the imminent annual floodings.
In an interview with Journalists on Monday in Lokoja, Kogi state capital, Honourable Aliyu urged the people of the area to learn from the previous devastating effects of the floods.

He said though the State Government has concluded necessary arrangement to resettle victims, however noted that it was necessary for them to exercise caution so as not to allow unnecessary loss of lives and properties to flood.
The Legislator who commended the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for this season’s arrangement to resettle would be victims, called on the riverine dwellers to cooperate with the government in the effort to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
He also disclosed that the state and federal governments have mapped out strategies for the establishment of a permanent flood victims camps across the state.
While sympathising with the victims of previous floods, he equally thanked all the corporate organisations, groups and individuals that came to assist them with palliatives both in kind and cash.
Hon. Aliyu assured that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), both at the federal and state levels will not disappoint the people as everything will be done to ensure peace, safety of lives and properties.
The Lawmaker who noted with satisfaction the unprecedented acceptance of the APC in Kogi local government area, promised that the November election will favour Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo the APC candidate.

He therefore appealed to the people of the state to be united, remain resolute and peaceful in the struggle to retain APC as the governing party of Kogi state.
